Administration Video for Diabetic Nerve Pain of the Feet
Provides instructions on the treatment of QUTENZA for diabetic nerve pain of the feet. QUTENZA must be applied by a physician or healthcare professional under the close supervision of a physician.
What you can expect
Treatment of QUTENZA involves 5 steps. Please see below.
Your physician or healthcare professional will identify and mark the treatment area on your skin and examine your feet prior to the treatment. If necessary, your hair will be clipped in and around the identified treatment area to ensure QUTENZA will stick. The treatment area will then be washed with mild soap and water, and dried thoroughly.
A topical anesthetic will be applied to reduce discomfort associated with the treatment of QUTENZA. The topical anesthetic will be removed with a dry wipe, the treatment area will be gently washed with mild soap and water, and dried thoroughly.
QUTENZA is applied to your skin for 30 minutes. A dressing, such as rolled gauze, may be used to ensure QUTENZA maintains contact with the treatment area. QUTENZA can be wrapped around the top, bottom, or side of each foot to completely cover the treatment area. During the treatment, you must not touch QUTENZA or the treatment area. Touching QUTENZA and then accidentally touching other areas of your body can cause severe irritation of eyes, mucous membranes, respiratory tract, and skin.
After 30 minutes have passed, your physician or healthcare professional will gently and slowly remove QUTENZA.
After QUTENZA is removed, a Cleansing Gel will be applied to the treatment area for at least one minute. The Cleansing Gel will then be removed with a dry wipe, the treatment area will be gently washed with mild soap and water, and dried thoroughly.
NOTE: The treatment area may be sensitive to heat (eg, hot showers/baths, direct sunlight, vigorous exercise) for a few days after treatment.
